The Boyhood of Cúchulainn is one of the most famous of Irish Réamhsceala or preambles, to the epic Táin Bó Cuailnge, the Cattle Raid of Cooley. In this work depicting a youthful CuChulainn –or CúCu, also Setanta, as he was known as a youth –plays the game of hurling outside the fortress of Émain Macha, the seat of the Ulster royal High Kings.
