Storm Burrow Beach 2010 Oil on canvas
My own favourite, inspired by a real storm outside with a New York bound Irish Aer Lingus Airbus being absolutely pummelled as it rises into and beyond the massive rainstorm. I was struck by how minuscule it looked against the scale of a normal storm surge, it gave scale to our big sea skies.
Painting is my passion
For years I have been painting the view from my studio on the Burrow Beach in Sutton/Howth, and the area around this side of Dublin. This is my passion and what I love to do.
It is my own way of relaxing and rebooting my creative mind when it goes a bit pear-shaped and fuzzy when I get overwhelmed with stuff like accounts, bills and the uncertainty of making a living as an artist without a pension.
Most of all I love art itself in all its manifestations, old and new and to me, the art of landscape is always inspiring. If I have another life then all I want to do is paint on canvas.
These artworks are very personal to me as they are what I just love to do, not for a book or a commission or what I think people might like, they are my heart and soul. I hope they find a place in your heart and your home.
