I have produced a lot of album artwork over the years for bands like Thin Lizzy, Planxty, Ash, The Darkness and a few others that most of my followers here will be familiar with, but the other album cover artwork I am most proud of is my series of covers for singles and albums for the iconic artist and singer-songwriter Sinéad O’Connor.
My finest work for Sinéad are the two portrait images I produced for her wonderful album, ‘Faith and Courage’ for the front cover and the back cover.
Today I am proud to announce that these two images will be new prints and available on my website.

This was my original text for the launch of the new album titled ‘Faith and Courage’ by Sinéad O’Connor back in 2001:

“Faith and Courage ” is the title of the brand new album by Sinéad O’Connor and is the first album by Sinéad for Atlantic Records, USA.
I love Sinéad; she is an absolute joy to work with.
She is smart, intelligent, well-read, witty and deeply sensitive, drop-dead gorgeous and very artistic -most of all she trusts me as an artist, treats me with respect and gives me free rein to express myself.
I have always wanted to draw her and this time I got the chance to do it when Sinéad asked me to do the cover of her new album.
The title and the music inspired the front cover, which I interpreted from the music as revelatory.
The back cover portrait, where I sought to capture an iconic kind of sublime serenity, took weeks of drawing and redrawing to get the effect I was after.
The problem with the medium I choose -chalk and pastel -is that it is such a delicate technique: if you get it right, it looks amazing; if you don’t it looks crap.
As you can see from the various stages of the work shown here, things went a bit pear-shaped before I finally got it right.“
