Description
Cosmic Peril 1972
This poster is a lithograph print, size 20”x30”, printed on high-quality gloss art paper.
Later titled ‘The Vision of Jarbonel the Soothsayer’ in my book Celtia as the idea originally was inspired by a passage in the story of the Tuatha Dé Danann and referred to the dire warnings of the soothsayer and visionary Jarbonel Fiath. (Fiath=the Seer)
Marvel comic book artist and genius, Jack Kirby, influenced this one big time and it shows. Holds up well too. Took forever to scalpel out and seal those Letraset BenDay dot patterns, all on peelable sticky film.
The image is quite powerful and threatening as in the story and warned of impending doom and it suggests that pretty well. These were designed as decorative posters to be stuck up on your wall so the visual appeal was what mattered and this one caught the eye.
