Boann of Newgrange Watercolor Cartouche

I had far too much fun with this one.
This special limited edition print of the goddess Boann, one of my best artworks, demanded something really special: My first idea was to include a little pencil drawing of Newgrange, the Brú, or dwelling, of the goddess Boann. I produced a little sketch but the painting was so strong it overpowered the drawing so I scanned the pencil sketch, added it as a greyline image below the painting and then printed it all out on beautiful, expensive heavy 310 gm watercolour rag paper.

Using the printed greyline pencil drawing as a template I taped down the print on a strong board to prevent buckling and painted it all in light watercolour adding a few clouds in pencil and white highlights on the outside stonework of Ireland’s most iconic neolithic monument.

Since this is a watercolour, not one print will be the same as another and knowing my own habits I will add a few variations as I go along with the series.

Print Details

The print is A3 size, 11.69” x 16.53, and is printed on heavyweight 310 watercolour rag paper.
This signed, numbered, painted and embossed special edition print is limited to 25 copies and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed and numbered by myself, the artist.
All the watercolour painting is done by yours truly too.
