Description
Rainstorm Lake Como 2008 Watercolour
I painted this when I was back home from a trip to Como, Italy with my son Redmond who lived there at the time. He was a little disappointed that the weather was so dull and misty but for me, it was Turneresque, beautiful and inspiring, as the heavy clouds rolled right down the mountains and onto the lake.
This is the view from the deck of the famous Harry’s Bar on Lake Como.
Painting is my passion
For years I have been painting the view from my studio on the Burrow Beach in Sutton/Howth, and the area around this side of Dublin. This is my passion and what I love to do.
It is my own way of relaxing and rebooting my creative mind when it goes a bit pear-shaped and fuzzy when I get overwhelmed with stuff like accounts, bills and the uncertainty of making a living as an artist without a pension.
Most of all I love art itself in all its manifestations, old and new and to me, the art of landscape is always inspiring. If I have another life then all I want to do is paint on canvas.
These artworks are very personal to me as they are what I just love to do, not for a book or a commission or what I think people might like, they are my heart and soul. I hope they find a place in your heart and your home.
