PHILIP LYNOTT MAXELL ORIGINAL PAINTING

The canvas version shown here was started in 1982 at the same time as the presentation paint and pastel version. When I was asked if the Japanese client could keep the original artwork once it was photographed for repro I finished that smaller version and used that and finished the canvas painting except for the face. When I moved out to Howth it went up into the attic along with a lifetimes work and languished there till 2011 when I decided to finish it for the Hot Press Philip Lynott exhibition in Dublin.

Unfortunately, it was not finished in time but I was delighted to actually finish it and have it look exactly as I had originally intended. Along with the larger version of ‘Fatalistic Attitudes’ and a few unfinished Lizzy works -and a load of unfinished Celtic works it was placed on my wish list of stuff I wanted to do before I pop my clogs.

WHY AM I SELLING THIS WORK?

I am selling it as I need money to live, just like any other artist I know and also to get it into the hands of a real Thin Lizzy fan if I can in the hope it finds a good home.

MY ONLY THIN LIZZY/PHILIP LYNOTT WORK FOR SALE

This is the only Thin Lizzy/Philip Lynott artwork for sale.
Original art like ‘Black Rose’ and ‘Johnny the Fox’ I hope will end up in a beautiful place in Ireland where everyone can see them and be inspired.

THIS IS THE FINAL CORRECT VERSION

This work is a very evocative work for me and finishing it closed a chapter for me as it was the last artwork I did of Philip shortly before his untimely death and I always felt it deserved to be finished properly. This version is exactly as I intended it to look.

WHEN WILL IT BE FOR SALE?

The Painting will be on sale from Sunday the 17th! Watch out for the next newsletter with the info!
