WINTER RABBIT IN SNOW
WINTER. GEIMHREIDH. 1982.
Geimhreidh=Gaelic for ‘Winter’.
This snow painting -and the related story of mine titled ‘The Savage Rabbit’ -was commissioned by the late Claire Boylan for Image magazine in Ireland in the middle of the famous ‘Irish Blizzard’ of 1982. Outside the snow was piled so high I could not get out anywhere but it did inspire this artwork of a snow scene contrasting the alert indifference of the little rabbit beside the ancient dolmen to the mighty warriors crossing the frozen landscape in the distance.
